Hi jdobbs

I experienced this error buffer overflow error #003 during rebuilding segment 20 of my pretty woman dvd. What does this mean? I first stripped all the extras with dvd remake and afterwards I removed some languages with ifoedit. I always had done my dvds this way with the previous dvd-rb versions. Now this is the first time a buffer overflow error appears.

Any adivcE?

try doing the dvd without pre porcessing it - use dvd-rb to blank out the extras by using the main movie + menu option

also if your using cce 2.7 - try dropping back to version 2.6.x or use a different encoder like HC

well the problem was the encoder. CCE 2.7 caused this buffer overflow because 2.67 just went fine right now

@ Numer0bis

Could you try doing again with cce 2.70 with VBR_Bias=40 at Multipass mode and see if same error still occurs?

Thanks

I've repreprocessed the dvd but not witht dvdremake as I had done it at the first try but now with some freeware tools like voblanker, pgcedit and ifoedit. And now I tried to reencode it again with cce 2.7 but not with my vbr_bias setting = 0 and not as you suggested vbr_bias 40. All in all everything went fine now. I think dvdremake sometimes destroys something on the dvd if you stripped it. So I rather stick to the freewaretools instead of dvdremake!

Backing up Something's Gotta Give R1. No pre-processing. Using CCE 2.7.something for a while now (months), and this is the first time I have had this error. I was using 3 pass with everything else set to default. I did select Movie and Menu only. I am using .92 Pro. It happened while trying to rebuild the movie VTS. Just thought I would let you know jdobbs. I am going to try it again to see if it was just a fluke.

***UPDATE***

Tried it again during the day and it came back the same. I find this odd since I have never had a problem with any backup before. I will try When Harry Met Sally R1 tonight and see what it does.

If you get it to repeat, I'd appreciate it if you could then send me your rebuilder.ini file ( dvd-rb@dvd-rb.com )-- I could get a copy of "Somethings Gotta Give" and see if I can make it happen. I'd like to clear up these "random" errors before I lock down DVD-RB for version 1.00.

Whoah... this one was a bear. But it was well worth the effort.

I have to bow my head in shame, though. For a long time now I've been dismissing the 0003 and 0004 errors as being caused by preprocessing corruption -- because it virtually never happened on original discs. As it turns out my "Movie and Menus" option does the blanking in a manner similar to those -- and my own "preprocessing" bombed out...

After sifting through line-after-line I found it and it was really buried and obscure.

But, I am happy to say, it is fixed for v0.93! :D

Thanks Carpo, t3rror, and Numer0bis for helping.

I'm still having an error #0003 on a dvd. Seinfeld season 4 disc 2. The other discs in this series backed up without error after the new version of rb (0.93) was released. The disc was pre-processed using Vobblanker 2.0.0.2. Several menus were deleted and vts's blanked. I use cce sp 2.66.01.07. I also used steal space from extras. Any help would be appreciated.

Try it without preprocessing.

ok, i figured I could do that. But I really need to pre-process this disc and I don't want to use dvdshrink and i'm not familiar with other blankers so is there any way i can keep this pre-processed and use rb without resorting to one pass or another encoder? The thing that really gets me is that I pre-processed the other discs and they had no problems. Did I blank to much? Is it the amount blanked that causes the error?

yeah figure out the space you save preprocessing. Run rb first oversizing the disk that amount with rb-opt. Then post process to blank
