Hi @ll

I wanted to backup The_5th_Element DVD and I tried it twice with DVD-REbuilder 0.85 Pro. One Time with CCE 2.70 and the other with HC Encoder 0.13. Well both got oversized. I don't believe that I've set up something wrong. I just don't know why they both got oversized.
Anyone a suggestion?

Update:

I looked up the vts_01 files on the original dvd they were 4.43 gig and after encoding they were 4.48 gig. How can a movie be bigger after encoding? DVD-RB must has used a bitrate over the original one!?

This means you should not need RB.

Just run through Shrink to strip the audio and sub streams you do not want, and compress the menus and extras a little, select No compression for the movie, and "voila".

Anyway,How much is your oversize?

Well Oversize is about 100 mb or so, I already stripped everything I dont need with DVDremake before I even had encoded in DVD-RB. Well at the beginning all was about 4589 mb afterwards it was the same because of the 100% but 4589 mb don't fit on a standard dvd-5 because it can only hold 4483 mb. Well it's not much.
For the moment I sovled the problem with menu shrink. I transformed the motion menus into still ones so it fits perfectly on a dvd-5

FOR ALL

If you preprocess, say that in your post.

Also, if you have tweaked the TargetSectors seting in your rebuilder.ini, please do not post about oversized output.

sorry for not mentioning that I prepocessed the dvd, but I didn't tweaked anything in the rebuilder.ini neither targetsize or so. I just left it the to the default settings.

hi pg55555, im using rb .86 pro. if i do a movie only and it will fit on a dvd-5,cant you just run cce in 2 pass .it shouldnt compress, just like shrink in no comp mode.

Why would you want to run a source thru CCE if it is not needed?

I'm not familiar with the new "Menu and Movie" and "Movie Only" options in RB, and I do not know how RB behave when, as a consequence of the blanking of unneeded parts of the DVD the resulting compression is 100%.

I would say try, always in an unprocessed source, and if there are any problem, post it in the forum, detailling your experience (soft versions, movie, log, ...) so jdobbs or other of the experienced contributors can help to iron-out the few remainings bugs

i tried the new movie only option and after the extras + menu's were removed,it came out 100% dvd-5 . i continued with the encoding and it turned out great.i was wondering if i could have ran cce with 2 passes instead of my normal 4 passes.
