I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but is there anyway to do just the movie (no menus etc) without prior editing, similar to what DVDREasy offers? If not, its a much needed feature!

No not at this time. You have to pre-process with infoedit or shrink.

Why not just rip in IFO mode with Decrypter, encode with HC, QuEnc, CCE, FreeEnc, etc, etc, and author with muxman? That is the best solution for what you want to achieve.

I guess so, but I just like the one-click convince (and auto shut-down) of DVD-RB!

yep, it's movie + menu.
and in addition it blanks the extras (so, they'll take some Ks of space).

So jdobbs, do you see this been an option in a future version? I only ask as some menus take up 600mb+ (as MenuShrink has shown me!) and sometimes you really only do want the movie and not a menu that takes 5 mins to get to the point :D

No... I'm not jdobbs :D
I don't know if that option will be "inserted" - I think I recall that jdobbs said once that maybe no... but... he also said that he would insert an option to compress the menus... maybe changing them with a "still image", I'm not sure though :D

Why not rip with DVD-shrink (re-author to main menu only, no compression), then run DVD-RB?

Well, thats not a problem (although I prefer CloneDVD) but firstly its one extra step and secondly, wasn't there issues a while ago about 'butchered' DVDs not processing correctly? I guess it just nice to be able to do everything in one package.

Whew.. My 5 day wait to post should be over...
I am a pro user and I love the program. I read the forum at least twice a day and I have been doing extensive searching on topics. Specifically, I was trying to figure out how to do a movie only backup.
I would love to see a main movie only option as well. I am a dvd2svcd user and I was willing to support jdobbs in order to get to the convenience of a "one click" solution. I have not been dissapointed in the least. I use the main movie + menus option, but I hate having to navigate the menu to start the movie. I just want it to play when I insert the dvd into the machine.
I have seen several threads about main movie only. There are some people requesting it. In the threads I saw I never saw jdobbs specifically so no way. The best I saw was, "maybe". Originally DVD-RB only did the whole DVD. But now with main movie and menu only it gives me hope that a main movie only function may appear.
The best method I have seen (and used) is the dvd shrink reauthor method (select reauthor, put main movie in the reauthor window, select no compression, save to a hd). That method works, but I always worry about dvd "preprocessing" or "butchering" that jdobbs is so fond of :-) <-- joke! Its a joke!
So please consider this another vote for main movie only in the pro version (not that this is a democracy). I think that feature will help you capture more market share when you go commercial.

So,
Why donīt you use DVDREasy ?
It now supports CCE 2.50, 2.66, 2.67 and 2.70, it doesnīt create a menu at all and it has a "SHUTDOWN WHEN FINISHED" option.

I tried it 3 times and had issues. Also, it doesn't have the OPV mode, so back-ups take hours.

If you must have a "one click" solution, DIKO would suit your needs perfectly. It's very customizable (different matrices and avisynth scripts) and utilizes either FreeEnc(terrific free encoder) or CCE and does offer one pass encoding. I've used it once in a while and like it. It serves its purpose very well.

Another (much faster) solution is to use PgcEdit to nuke everything but the movie (and keep the menus). It's instantaneous because the Vob files are not re-written (simply replaced for the ones that need to be blanked). PgcEdit has a "utility" called "blank out all title PGCs in DVD" which will kill all the title VTS (asking you to confirm for each one of course). It takes exactly 1 minute to do it. PgcEdit's output is very compliant, and I doubt DVD-RB would have any problem with it.
Add to that menushrink to shrink down your menus (also nearly instantaneous), and you're set for your favorite movie+menu backup.
If on top of that you want your DVD to start with the movie, this is a feature that PgcEdit will offer in the near future. One more reason to use it before DVD-RB...
just my 2 cents.

Of course you could just click on "Movie Only" in DVD-RB...
