Hello Master Yoda.
BS Player is a propriatory software media player, and a good one. It's freeware if you don't want DVD-playing capability.
Since it is a media player, it plays media files, it is not a media file itself.
All files have an extension provided by the program that has created it. For example, files made by MS Word have the extension ".doc". Media files usually have extensions like:
.vob
.avi
.mpg
.mov
.mp3
.ac3
etc etc.
If the extension of files in your computers is not visible, then please go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Hide Extensions for Known File-types and uncheck the last one.
Regards.

Not to sound rude but i know what a file extention is and how to show the extention.I also guessed as i have not used the program that bsplayer pro is a program.
The reason i ask how to convert a bsplayer pro file rather than giving the file extention was that the mate that ask just said it was a bsplater pro file, he never told me the extention.

I got what the issue is. :D
Your mate is using Windows XP and any media file associated with BSPlayer would show up in the 'Type' column in the folder view as 'BSPlayer Pro file'.
Like this:

This just means that the file is just a media file with the file association set to BSPlayer. Ask him for the extension and it should be a format familiar to us all. :D

btw, what's the prob w/such files ?

What programs are there that can convert a BSplayer Pro File to avi or mpeg ??
Two weeks ago I downloaded several movies. They all had .avi extension. But then something went wrong, maybe because of a virus. When I right clicked on a movie choosing properties, type of file was no longer avi, rather BSplayerProFile.avi. I burned above movies to DVD and my DVD Recorder was unable to play them. Then I right clicked on one of the above movies choosing properties again, specifying that I want these types of files to be opened with Windows Media Player. Finally, I restarted the computer and it was Video Clip instead of BSplayerProFile.avi or avi under Type of file. I burned the movies again to DVD and everything was fine. I don’t know what all that means but I hope it helps. Lol.
