View Full Version : Problems with DVD Rebuilder / CCE

Ever since I reinstalled Windows on my computer, I've had some problems with dvd-rb. I've searched the forums, but I can't seem to find a sollution.

The problem occurs in the encoding process, and happens with all the versions of dvd-rb I've tried. Including 0.63, 0.79Free, 0.80Free, 0.82Pro, 0.841Pro. I'm using cce sp, and I get the same error with v2.50, v2.67 and v2.70.
I get the error with all films (I've tried with ten different), and the sources are not processed before encoding with dvd-rb.

When encoding, cce seems to encode the first segments of the vts_01 file without difficulties. But after encoding for a while, during the .vaf encoding, cce suddenly crashes (or something) and restarts the .vaf encode. Dvd-rb says:
"--Encoding resulted in no .M2V, retrying"
After a few retries I get an encoder Error:
"ERROR: File V01000400001005 shows completed, but no .M2V file exists. Aborted."
I've attached a screenshot showing the error.

I have used dvd-rb for some time now, and have never had any problems with it. (until now) Thank's to jdobbs for creating this great tool.

Any help with my problem is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

sorry, but I have some difficulties attaching the picture. The error is described in my post, so I guess we'll do without it.

Are you overcloking?

hattifnatt

No, I'm not overclocking.

Try stepping back to a previous version of CCE and the odds are it will go away.

I had the same problem this evening. Funny thing is, I used DVD-RB to process a DVD and it went fine. I closed the program and then relaunched it, set it to do the next DVD and I got the error message. Couldn't figure out why.

Then I looked at the REBUILDER.INI file. Somehow the path to the decoder was missing. I didn't change the INI file at all between DVDs, so I am not sure where that line went. Just disappeared on its own.

I put it back in and then DVD-RB was happy again.

(Incidentally, I was using the HC encoder, not CCE.)

Thank you all for your tips.

jdobbs - as I already mentioned, I hve tried three different versions of cce, but no luck.

But "pg55555" mentioned overclocking, so I tried "underclocking" my cpu slightly. I'm now running at a slightly lower frequecy than default.

The strange thing is; now everything works ok.

Anyone have any Idea of what's wrong? I shouldn't have to slow down my cpu to get this prog working. Should I?

Thanks!

You didn't have to slow down you CPU to run a program. You had to slow down your CPU to run your computer. Your CPU was alway having problems -- it just wasn't obvious to you. You may have had an occasional unexplained glitch that you just ignored or never noticed.

CCE puts a lot of demand on the processor and memory, and does it for an extended period. If you search through the forums you'll find multiple other cases in which CCE pointed out an overclocking problem. It's the best CPU tester around.

Ok. Thank you very much.

But I'm not quite convinced.
You see, I've used cce for a long time, and I have never had to change my cpu settings before.

This is not exactly my field of expertise, but I can't see why I suddenly had to do this.
CCE has always run perfect on my system.

Any suggestions?

Well... usually things aren't broken until they become broken :)

Have you added some new hardware recently?
New software? (like some kind of tweaking application?)
Some BIOS Upadate, maybe?

I'd do a quick check to see if the fans in your case are all running ok. Your cpu fan been on the way out might explain why you have system stability problems, Also when you reinstalled did you format the boot partion or just install over the top of it (always a sure sign of trouble)

Thanks for all your help.

Rockas - I have not added any new software, no bios updates.

RaistlinMajere - Thank's for the tip. I'll check my fan. When I reinstalled i did format the boot partion, so I don't think a problem.

Looks like my cpu is having some issues. But atleast dvd-rb is working now. Thank you all.

My first post here.......I have the exact same problem. DVD-RB always worked fine now I get this error. Does it have something to do with multi angle videos being on the DVD?

Also should onepass VBR(w/analysis) option be selected for multi pass encoding?

Thanks for your help.

It happens only in that DVD? or in all the new DVDs you are trying

What version of RB are you using? What encoder?

Carpo

the only time i have had that error was when i had a pal rls of a movie (interlaced) and didnt have deinterlace with decomb or disable interlaced ticked

tick them and it went fine - strange

tried same film with HC and had no issues what so ever - so atm im tending to lean towards using HC for majority of the re-encodes i do :)

Using DVD rebuilder v0.82.1 with Cinema Craft Encoder SP v2.67.00.27
I'm gonna try formating partition C and reinstalling windows then I'll report back. **fingers crossed**

Using DVD rebuilder v0.82.1 with Cinema Craft Encoder SP v2.67.00.27

Is that version retail or trial?

If it's trial you must point the path to EclCCE

And your DVD Rebuilder is OutDated... the Freeware 0.83 is available... please don't submit problems of old versions.

Edit: use my installer and follow it's instructions carefully!

Well never mind. I just reformated and installed Windows from scratch updated to 0.83 and it works like a charm. :)

Still one question though. Do I select 1 pass VBR(w/analysis) when using multiple pass encode?

Thanks for your help.

Lol, what does that mean?
You can use one method or the other! Not both at same time.

As onesoul said you can't use both at the same time.

1 pass VBR(w/analysis) - will encode your DVD at one pass but the final size won't be as precise as it will be if you use (ex.) 2 passes. My advice is that you always use 2 passes (or 3 on hard ones)... 'Cause using one pass you may get Undersized results (wich is not so bad) but you may also get Oversize results wich will be a pain 'cause it won't fit in your DVD :(

keep it UP

Well thanks for your help. I actually used 5 passes. Is that to much?

Rockas
24th April 2005, 22:55
This is my own opinion here:

Yes... it is too much.
I usually set Rebuilder to 2 passes, only on extreme hard sources I set it to 3 passes... or at least I did...

I've tested today the new HC Encoder 0.14 at One Pass VBR and I became amazed with the quality... I'll do a few more tests if my first impression is corroborated by those tests... I'll never use another encoder again ;)
