View Full Version : CCE freezes with Sex and the City

I have in the past used a workaround for what I believe we found to be an issue with the way that CCE handles the opening of the HBO "TV snow". It was either low bitrate or just the method of trying to figure out how to encode the "jumbled squares" I do not recall its been awhile. I normally use 2.66/2.67 to do the majority of my rebuilds. I know that there are a few discs which have this intro and then when or if CCE locks up I revert back to 2.50. Now I have the Sex and the City - Season Six, Part 2 discs (all three) that will not complete with the older encoder, I have listed the rebuilder.txt from two attempts 2.67 and 2.50. I see that on the same disc (1) in phase 1 it takes a different amount of time, negligible but I wasn't sure if that meant anything, and from 2.67 to 2.50 it is hanging on different segments in phase 2. If there are any ideas on why they will not complete I would be ever so grateful. If there is any other information that might be helpful I can try and help. Thank you.

Still working on SATC and got 0.85 and noticed selecting either CCE encoder 2.50 or regular (2.66/2.67) and it will continually run (2.66/2.67). So no test run with 2.50 and 0.85.

Setup my older box and (2.8 GHz and a 2.4GHz) no go on either. I have tried the MIN_BITRATE=500 to no success. Any ideas?

I'm not suggesting you have a cracked version of CCE, but I do know for a fact ;) that a poorly cracked version of CCE will cause problems at this particular portion of your encode. I now have 2.70.02.00, btw, and it works fine. I haven't backed up Sex In The City, but I have backed up the 1st 3 season of Curb. These episodes also have that annoying HBO logo on them. FYI, other people have had issues with the HBO logo when encoding Curb. You might want to do search for it on these forums. Who knows, maybe the info there will help you out?

Still not working...decided to change disc, non HBO, need to free up some space I will come back to this later. Noted poorly cracked version of CCE will always create problems fortunately I am not in that boat. I would like to figure out why I cannot complete with these 3 disc. Anyone else not completing the Region 1's?

I did them...

That HBO "white noise" screen is a real pain. In my experience CCE v2.70 is hit-or-miss, lesser versions work every time. V2.50 is still as solid as a rock. HC and QuEnc does these discs with no problem at all.

OK that settles it, I have no class today, doing a complete reinstall of the whole box, just to be safe (same one from the Anchorman crap before, but that was all resolved thank you!) but I will only put back on 2.50 the others aren't needed, and prove to only be hit and miss under serious testing...damn HBO "noise", if only I could just kill that intro...

Success!! So the whole CCE onslaught is the best to fight the stubborn disc. All 3 discs worked properly with 2.70. Not sure why exactly but it's now in my regiment. Solved, thank you.

A cubs fan? Hey -- I've lived away from Chicago for many, many years now -- and I'm still a cubs fan. On the other hand some may call me a glutton for punishment.

The last time the Cubs made it to the World Series was in 1908. But we still hung out at Wrigley Field religiously when I was a kid.

Yeah, been a Cubs fan since I was a little kid. I'm actually going back to see the folks (they live in the northern burbs) and I've made sure that I scheduled time to catch the Cubs play at Wrigley. I can't wait to show my wife how cool Wrigley is (by marrying me she is, by default, a life long Cubs fan) :D

Since we are off topic:

Hurray to SLB. I live next to the stadium of luz (light), I am going to join the celebration which will receive team players tonight at 2:00 am. Around here it is overcrowded, I hope to find a way in, eheh.

Viva ao Benfica!

I spent a lot of time at Wrigley in my youth. Loved the dogs -- you used to be able to get them any way you wanted (either with mustard or, well... plain)

I may be giving away my age but... Banks, Beckert, Kessinger, Santo, Williams, Hickman, Young, and Hundley.

My players were Sandberg, Dawson (the hawk), Dunston, Sutcliff, Maddux, Grace, etc. Ahhhh..........the good 'ol days of watching Cubs games during summer break from school.
