Hey...

I'm new here, and I've been studying this forum now for about a month, and I'm really surprised at how much knowlegde ya'll got.
And how friendly you are, against new-comers.

But why I'm here is because I got this doubt, that I want to solve before I buy my Canopus ACDV 1394. I would apreciate if someone could tell me, if it's possible to capture something via the tuner in the VCR without a tape. Instead of having to record it on a tape first, and THEN capturing it on my PC.

I wanna say thanks in advance

Any help is good help :)

Short answer: probably yes :)

Longer answer: the Canopus ACDV 1394 can capture analog video besides DV. In which case you would have to connect the composite video out of the VCR to the canopus analog input. Depending on the VCR you may need a scart to composite adapter to make the connection.

You can capture the video from the tuner of a VCR without taping it. I watched TV for a few years that way when my TV could not tune properly any more and I couldn't afford a new one. If you can watch the signal on TV through a scart, you can capture it too. The only catch is that some VCR's will power down after a while if there is no tape playing. You have to check that for yourself.
