i used to dvd->mpg1/2 with freeenc in order to put 3 mpgs on one dvd with a menu. now i am into linux and the only tool in found to do the job is acidrip. it can compress into mpg format with codec "lavc" and a proper command line. i took the command line which is given in the debug window so it would create a kvcd. but the quality is terrible! i did a 3pass and it look like compressing to divx3 1 pass with a bitrate of 600 :) blocks everywhere and all the time. i know that a good quality can be achieved due to freeenc. maybe sb here has better settings than the default one in acidrip, maybe the settings can be altered in order to comply to the freeenc ones ?
