Hi.
I have a TV card (PixelView Play TV Pro) and connect signal from cable TV to the tuner. I see a lot of snow in the picture, and I suspect the signal level may be too low. Which signal level is the best for a capture card? I consider buying signal amplifier, but before that I would like to know what the correct signal level should be?

I don't know what correct signal level is or even how to measure it. But if the signal is too low you should buy an amplifier, not an attenuator.

1000 millivolts is considered minium for class B picture. In analog there is a sweet point where a low noise 1.8db Gain of 10db amplifier will made a big differece. After that, there will be no improvement.

The amplifier needs to be placed as close to the antenna head or in coming cable feed as possible.

Just adding,

Remove the cable connection from your tuner card and attach to another TV VCR or something before you run out and buy anything.

Tuner card could easily be bad.
