View Full Version : Which is the primary parameter? Bits/(pixel*frame) or % of compressibility test

Hi.
I have updated GordianKnot to 0.35 and am trying to rip a movie into the XviD format. However, after I run the compressibility test, I get the bits/(pixel*frame) of about 0.19 and the corresponding compressibility % as "117%". Now, I am confused. Which should I consider as the primary parameter? Should I increase the bits/(pixel*frame) to about .025 (as per the guide) which will increase the Compressibility % to about 170%? Or, should I decrease the bits/(pixel*frame) way below .17 to obtain a compressibility % of about 70%?

Please advise.

Hi-

Once you've run the compress test, the percentage is the one to pay attention to. And 117% tells you you won't be able to reach the chosen file size. So, lower your file size, increase the resolution, remove denoising filters, leave off the B-Frames, etc. Also, that seems to be a fairly compressible movie (at least for your chosen settings).
