Hello, I currently purchased Pirates Of The Caribbean (Very Good Movie) and I have been asked to lend it to some Families and Friends, wich is ok, the problem is that the DVD is presenting some damage and before I have to purchase a New One I tried "DVD Shrink" to make a copy [please keep in mind that I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with Windows Xp Service Pack 2 / DVD ROM Samsumg / DVD +(Plus) RW, no Double Layer Or Anyting Else ] anyway, when I used the program to Shrink the Movie (Aprox 7.7 GB) to fit in a 4.7 GB DVD + R the Program presents a full bar half of it in red . . .
Please advise (Does DVD Shrink doesn't work with WinXP SP2 or DVD + ROMS)
Thank You . . .

DVD Shrink works fine with XP SP2, and it doesn't care about the optical drive you're using.
So, you get a half red bar even though the Video compression is set to automatic ?
If so, I'd just throw out some stuff, like commentary tracks, for example.
I have the German Version of POTC, and when I load it into DVD Shrink, using Full Disc Backup, it automatically deselects the DTS track, as with it I get a small red bar (DVD Shrink can't compress audio, and video only to a certain degree).
I'd use the re-author mode and back up the main movie only, using only the english AC3 sound. That way the movie will remain in a pretty good quality.

I've used CloneDVD 2 with excellent results - if you deselect some stuff, like languages and subtitles you don't understand, or better yet just select the movie files, you won't see a loss of quality at all.
