Hi there,

My company is looking to buy DVD-authoring software, preferably for the mac but that's not a must. A client has asked us to do a DVD, and is asking for a feature similar to the infamous White Rabbit feature on the Matrix DVD.

I know Scenarist can do this, but that's way to expensive. Are there any other tools that can do this?

Yours,
Andra

Maestro or with a lot of effort and knowledge the free tools like Vobedit.

I've read most of the threads on this matter at doom9 and have explored this feature both on a mac and a pc. You would be better off hiring someone with this capability rather than finding a software package that does it. Because the software will cost money (or you will need a set of softwares) and then you will need to invest time and money to train someone. You would save time, money and frustration.

PS: I'm not trying to sell myself. There are many authorers here with that expertise.

Thanks for that Ijump and I live in The Netherlands :D
But read the maestro manual and you can do it your self.
Check this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29642&highlight=maestro+highlight)

iJump, I've been roaming this forum for a while now, too. And I've been doing some reading. DVD Authoring & Production (http://www.dvdtoday.com/) By Ralph LaBarge is a great book to get a clear view of what the DVD structure looks like.

I've almost got a "white rabbit" kind of feature working in scenarist (I only still have to make the button dissapear when it's not needed anymore). I'm starting to get better at working with Scenarist, so expect that I'll be able to learn to work with other software aswell. As I mentioned, Scenarist is simply to expensive to buy.

Msc_Alex, thanks for the link. I never thought you could make buttons inside a movie track in Maestro. I'll have to check that out.
I've heard (or actually, read) stories about Spruce having been bought by Apple, and that since version 2, DVD Studio Pro is actually a ported version of Maestro. If this is true, and I can get the "white rabbit" thing working in Maestro, I should be able to pull the same thing off in DVD studio Pro, uhm, right? That, being a MAC program AND only about $500, would be a perfect solution.

Thanks for your reactions so far!

Yours,
Andra

Scenarist is probably your best bet for flexability / compatibility...

although difficult to learn at first it's not bad once you get use to it
