I have been trying to backup this 2-disc set, and I am consistently getting blocky results. I don't quite understand what the problem could be, and I am not really sure what I need to post here about the discs to be of any help. If someone could tell me what general information about discs is needed to start a diagnosis, I would be greatly appreciative. I will include the DVD Decrypter information about the discs below. The size is troubling me, because I have performed great backups of larger discs before. Thanks guys for your help. I am using RB .77 with CCE SP 2.70.

****EDIT****
I am now starting to understand that more than likely the problem I am having is coming from some ILVU problems. Jdobbs, I appreciate all your work and just read that you are planning a VIP version (yippee) that could take care of this in the future. Much love!! If you still want to try to find out more about this specific title (I doubt it!), please let me know.

Is there any PCM audio track you can leave out ?

By the way, there are lots of concert DVDs Rebuilder can't handle because of its large multiangel portions.

Fortunately jdobbs it's working in it, so it's due to success

@jdobbs

Will be the alternate angles reencoded to the same level of the main one?. I usually don't check alternate angles, so I wouldn't mind recode then with less bitrate, as an extra

I am not sure if there is PCM audio or not. I am fairly new to the guts of re-encoding. I have been fortunate enough to be able to find RB and it works great. I am interested in learning a little more about the internal workings, and just need a little direction. How do I determine if I am working with PCM audio? What are some diagnostic tools that I can use to learn a little more about the DVD structure. I am going to get started reading a little more on these forums. Thanks again to jdobbs!

Post the first part of the REBUILDER.INF file. It will show how much space has been reserved for audio. That will identify whether the angles or possibly LPCM are the cause of the problem. If this were anything other than a concert DVD I would say it is probably the angles -- but in this case either could be the cause.

You can open the disk with Shrink and see if the main movie has several audio tracks and what size are they.

PCM track are usually above 1.5 Gb, while Dolby 5.1 or DTS are quite smaller.

You can also check the audio setup menu in your DVD :)

jdobbs,

I am sorry, but where is the INF file located? Is that the one with all of our settings? Or is it the logfile? Man I feel slow today....

Also, I checked the size of the audio tracks in DVD schrink with no compression, and they were 198MB for AC-3 2ch and 463MB for AC-3 5.1ch and 777MB for DTS 5.1ch. I don't ever use DTS, so it is cut. I would also like to keep the 5.1 since it is a concert DVD. I guess this rules out the possibility of it being PCM.

The file is in the D2VAVS directory. If there is no LPCM track, I have to assume it is ILVU for some large portion and that is what is making it so tight.

I'm still working that part of the program...

t3rror - did you remove/disable the DTS track in the first results you posted ?
removing the 777MB DTS track would definatly help gain some extra for the video if you didnt.

Yes, the only audio track was the 5.1.

***EDIT***

Last night I actually sat down to watch this DVD and flip around with the alternate angles. It turns out that almost every single song set on the DVD has up to 3 alternate angles. This has to be the problem that I am running into. jdobbs, I think that you can close this thread now, and I will just eagerly anticipate your next version.
