Personally I find this transfer/film extremely muddy and dull. From the screenshots on the computer you can see that obviously but on the TV is another story. On my the setups in my home, the movie looks dull. So that is multiple TVs. Of course everyone's setup is different same for TVs, but what I am doing here, is it wrong? Will this only look good on my TV or most people's? Or will the saturation and contrast be too much for someone else?

I think that kinda muddy image tone isn't anything I'd worry about. It looks like you can clear up the image in postprocessing on computers and modern TVs. And when you're watching the video full screen, the controlling the ambient lighting is something you can play with to try and make it look better.

So my vote it... not worth the effort to correct the image. It's not like you're creating any new detail, right?

I reference the Simpsons:

Homer: Oh, I give up.
Coyote: [voiceover] Find your soulmate, Homer. Find your soulmate.
Homer: Where? Where?
Coyote: This is just your memory. I can't give you any new information.

<edit>I just realized my DVD of Heat is still in shrink wrap... Maybe I won't open it quite yet</edit>
