View Full Version : BT8x8 Tweaker
reboot

I have 3 versions of virtualdub.
I have the Conexant BT878 chip.
Vdub works great for avi captures.
I cannot get the tweaker to work.
Vdub gives me this:
bt878.jpg
Any ideas?
GRRR, won't take the image...
Here's what it says:
This function requires a video capture device based on the Brooktree (Conexant) BTxxx, BTxxx, or BT878 chip. None could be found. Are you sure you have one?

Did you put the following DScaler files in your VDub folder?
dtvdrv.dll
dTVdrv95.vxd
dTVdrvNT.sys
It does not work without them.

Yes, from different versions of DScaler too.
I even ripped the card out, just to triple check that I DO have the BT878.
Tried Vdub, vdubmod, vdub-mpeg, old vdub...
Is it possible the manufacturer (Prolink Pixelview) has screwed with the chip just enough, so it doesn't register as the BT878?
I had to use the 3rd party WDM drivers to get it to work properly, the originals on the CD are crap. Could this cause vdub to not "see" it properly?

What 3rd party drivers did you try?
Before my Leadtek card drivers matured, I had good luck with the BTWinCap drivers. You can read about and get them here.

Been down that road already. :D The stock drivers on disk suck. They wouldn't even load properly, and the tuner didn't work, and the capture software is junk.
I went through the BTWincap drivers installation twice, and finally got it right the second time, by using the installation guide (if all else fails, RTFM!) ;)
Now every application I've tried captures and tunes properly, and I've narrowed it down to vdub for capping avi's, and an assortment of Mainconcept EVE, Intervideo WinDVR, and Sony Vegas 4 for capping mpeg-2.
Just this nagging little thing in vdub.
It's not a huge deal, I'd just like to know why it doesn't work?

More than likely.

I'm beginning to suspect just that, more and more.
The card does work as advertised, but I wouldn't wish it on a noob, who could probably never get it set up.
No worries, then, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, and not worry about the tweaker.
Thanks for all your help :D
