I need to author Vobs from a 4gB MPeg.

I backed up a DVD using DVD2SVCD, and ran out of disc space during the process to create the ISO. I am left with the final muxed Mpeg file. (with a AC3 soundtrack).

However in creating more space i have deleted a necessary file to restart DVD2SVCD in recovery mode.

I thought it would be simple to author a DVD from the Mpeg file, but apparently not. All the guides are either showing me how to create a DVD from Vobs or from muxed files. It seems this task needs some outside the square thinking and its bewildering me.

Is there a guide somewhere that can help me, or can i get a hint which tool or tools to use.

DVD2SVCD goes as follows:
mplex->spumux(if there are subs)->dvdauthor->mkisofs

That is audio+video mpg->audio+video+subs mpg->vobs->image

So if DVD2SVCD crashed during the image creation process I would think you should have the vobs on the HD.

Anyway, if you only have the complete mpg then you can use DVDAuthor to author the movie. But it's script based so you might not like that option.

If subs are a non-issue then you can demux the mpg into m2v+ac3 (VobEdit should do the trick) and then use MuxMan. That's a pretty easy approach IMO :)

I think Dvdlab may support direct import of the mpg, but not certain.

Yeah, DVDLab will take it.
If you don't want any menus, just author in ReJig.
