is there a vts min size minimum? i know that sounds odd. What i mean is can i set this to 0 to make sure i reencode all vts? any issues with this?
I have a disk set with about 50 8mb files on it i would love to cut in half.

@jptheripper,
From the DVD Rebuilder settings sticky :
# VTS Minimium Size Re-Encode Threshold
vts_min_size=n
Range:0-?, Default: 25625 (~52 MB)
The parameter specifies the number of sectors (2048 bytes each) that defines the point at which a VTS will be either encoded or copies intact. Anything this size or smaller will be simply copied into the output VIDEO_TS directory (it won't be further compressed).

I have a disk set with about 50 8mb files on it i would love to cut in half. I'd recommend only using the parameter on DVDs that have a huge number of small VTSs that combined add up to a significant amount of space. The reasons I defaulted as I did:
1. Very small VTSs are difficult to further compress because there isn't a lot of room for shifting bits around in VBR. Quality drops fast.
2. Very small VTS can sometimes be filled with still images. They should work fine, but the likelihood of error is greatly increased.
3. The small amount of space saved doesn't have any significant increase in picture quality when recovered.

okay no problem.
I am trying to back up the speedracer collectors editions disk. 11 episodes per disk, ,so it is packed already.
It is also the worst authored movie i have ever seen. DUplicate vts's all over the placee (the intro, 11 copies, one for each episode) that are all referenced seperately, so i have to reencode them or completely reauthor the video.
Its very frustrating actually, it is a limited issue set of 5 dvds that cost 130 bucks so it _will_ be backed up

Wow. Speedracer. I haven't heard of that in a long time. The theme song is going through my head as I type this.

Yeah i tracked down a 5 disk set of every episode ever made. Decent quality (Studio released) but the disks are really packed. Full disk backups result in bitrates below 1800. So i am trying to trim the fat everywhere. Every once counts on these, because of the source. If you want a sample, just pm

remember you can just split each DVD in two, keeping menus, with Shrink.
You will end with 10 discs, but without quality loss

unfortunately the menus are so convoluted that splitting would require alot of navigation structure changes just so you dont have to flip thru 5 menus on the second half of the disk.
im torn at which route to take.
