View Full Version : selecting which VTSes to process

situation, I have a DVD that is 100Mb over the DVD5 limit.
There is 1 extra in the DVD. At the moment, both the main movie and the extra is showing in the DVD-RB window. I am assuming this means that DVD-RB will be processing the extra VTS as well. But I do not want DVD-RB to process the extra VTS.
Is there a way in DVD-Rb where I can select/deselect which VTSes get processed?

If it only got 100mb above I think that it would be better for you to use DVD Shrink.

I do share Rockas suggestion, but for your qquestion, there is a "min_VTS_size" setting (I do not reember exactly the spelling, so please search for it).
The default is 50 MB, so RB do not process VTS smaller than that. But you can use this setting to establish a larger thresshold, so RB will not process the VTS want to keep

The right spelling for the option is "vts_min_size" and you got to put it in the [Options] section of rebuilder.ini .
You got to specify a value for it , in your case take the size in Mb of the VTS you don't want to process , mult for 512 and use this .
(It uses dimensions in sectors, one sector is 2048 bytes , 1 Mb = 1024 x 1024 bytes , so 1 Mb= (1024 x 1024) / 2048 = 512 sectors!)

I think an option to de-select a vts for processing would be good. Sometimes only encoding extras is needed, while the movie can be left untouched. Can this be done with RB-Opt v0.17? IIRC last time i tried rb-opt, 99.9% was the highest you could go.

not at the moment. An old told called rb-keeper allowed it but i am not sure that development continues on it.
I would love this option, i have a number of disks with lots of extras i would like to re-encode but leave the main movie unprocessed. It would be very handy

If you are that close and by removing the one VTS would put you below the max for a DVD-5, why not use VOB Blanker, blank out the VTS and process the rest and then the completed files would be ready to burn with functional menus and everything in place. I have done this several times without paying any particular attention to the resultineg size removing previews and when the files were processed all I had to do was burn to disk when Blanker was finished.
If you do it this way title your destination folder VIDEO_TS and all you have to do with Nero is load it and burn it.

Is there a way in DVD-Rb where I can select/deselect which VTSes get processed? I've thought about adding that option. I'll add it to the list.

Just curious how long that list is, number of items?;)

what if I do not want to remove any VTSes? What if I actually have blank VTSes already (deleting extras I do not need/want using titlesetblanker) and still can't get it below DVD5 size?

Ok, I keep reading over and over about vts_min_size and how it works for everyone. Why the heck won't it work for me? This is my rebuilder ini from the directory in which it's installed. Is there a different location, a duplicate? I can't find one.

According to help file you should write it in lowercase: vts_min_size=0

Tried changing that, still no luck.

What's not working? why do you say it's not working?

Because when I start up Rebuilder and load up a disk, I don't get all the VTS's. I currently see VTS 3, 4, and 6 in the tree or VTS list, while 1, 2 and 5 are hidden. One of them is the menus, the others have small titles.

Open Rebuilder.ini and insert: vts_min_size=1 under Options section
ex:
[Options]
vts_min_size=1
You have to restart Rebuilder so the changes makes effect.

That's what I already had, it just makes zero difference. Changed the 0 to a 1, changed the upper case to lower case, it's all the same, I still get the hidden VTS's.
I do see some 12 MB VTS's on some disks, so it's not using the default. None of the smaller VTS's are showing up though. A 7.59 MB studio logo, a 2.68MB THX section, etc.
I'm not overly concerned about them, it just bothers me that they don't show up. If I pick minimum size 0, I expect everything to show up.

Well... the logos you are talking about must be inserted on the Menu VOB file... something like (ex.) "VTS_01_0.VOB"... play your VOBs 0 and check it.
Rebuilder doesn't touch the menus, yet ;)

No, they weren't all in the menu domain, I checked for that.
After doing some more testing, it looks like it's disk specific. I was doing all my testing on Aliens as that was what I had handy on the drive, and it looks like there's something about that particular disk that it doesn't like. When I tried some other disks, I got everything showing up.
Thanks for your help, I'll just ignore it when it doesn't work on some disks.
