It appears that Microsoft has hit a small snag in trying to open their own standard. Rather than just all hopping on board it appears as if a few (http://www.rethinkresearch.biz/free_page_view.asp?crypt=%B3%9C%C2%97%8B%80%86%AF%BC%C2%88%97owo%8F) are willing to fight a bit and possibly take things to court. Which is great news. Although I doubt it will end in a decisive or favorable way. Quite possibly it is just a rouse for more favorable negotiations to the companies threataning to bring suit.

And on the EU pattent front all may not be well. Groklaw (http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20050228115557661) has some possibly disturbing revalations. Even with all the demands for a restart it appears the EU commission is saying no.
