I am in the process of transferring some beta and vhs movies to dvd.The way I'm doing it is quite time intensive. I go from my beta or vhs vcr through a Sony DCR-TRV 50 camcorder(analog to digital)to Windows Movie Maker to capture DV-AVI to my computer hard drive. Then use DVD Santa to convert DV-AVI files to DVD format. Then I use DVD Santa to burn files to DVD. The process seems to work fine, but I'm wondering if there is a less timely way to accomplish the end result. There is no editing involved. I'm new at this so my terminology may not be correct. Any and all help would be appreciated.

DVD Santa is not very well thought of, from the forum feedback I've read to date. You'll not receive much support on it here.

Here's a link to the most recent VHS to DVD thread in Noobs.
VHS to DVD (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=90342&highlight=vhs+to+dvd)

And all of the Newbies threads that speak to the same topic.
VHS to DVD-Newbies search returns (http://forum.doom9.org/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=1307354&sortby=&sortorder=)

As stated, these are only returns using the "Search this forum" button, located at the bottom of the Noobs homepage, a forum-wide search will turn up lots more info, but the first thread I've linked to, and the first few threads from the second link (above) will give you lots to chew on and several options. The links that point to the Capture Guide would be a good place to start.

Pick a specific workflow outside of DVD Santa and post on it, either here, or in the Capture forum, and you'll receive support.

Since his capture is via DV/Firewire, the DV Forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=59) is probably a better place to spend time. Along with the DV specific issues discussed there, there's also a DV to DVD Guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60392).
