Hey Guys! I've been reading this board for ages annon, but this time I need to ask for help as I have been looking for too long ;)

I need to be using an encoding software that I just got, but this software doesn't seem to be able to load up AVS files.

That's why I am looking for a good software/codec combo to keep the best quality, and not impact too much on the encoding time, while creating a fake AVI that this program would recognize.

it would need to play both sound and video from that pseudo-avi it would create.

Thanks for all the inputs!

If your input files are not MPEG2 and you're not using DVD2AVI or DGMPEGDec, then you are in the wrong forum.

Do you have a question about DVD2AVI or DGMPEGDec? If not, please repost in the appropriate forum. The right forum would be one that deals with your encoder application, which you did not describe.

install makeAVIS in ffdshow, run it. It transforms an avs in a fake avi, and can do wav too, it's kind of self explaining.

yes, original files are VOB, converted to a d2v project.

I have managed to do it with VFAPI after playing around with it some more... I first create a avs file with audio in there, and then create the pseudo avi with vfapi

I'd like to try the makeavis one... do you have a link to it?

I'm quite unfamiliar with ffdshow

this is a link to a stable ffdshow (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow/ffdshow-20040725.exe?download) .(it's in constant development, there are alpha builds all over the place) ffdshow is a codec, mainly. When you run the setup, check the avisynth script serving box, and make sure you disable playback of everything if you don't want to take over your existing decoders. Then go to ffdshow>makeAVIS in the start menu...load your avs script, name the output avi, select extras if you want, and hit create. That's what I use to feed to the wmv9 encoder who won't accept avs. It's pretty simple.

And sorry neuron2 for trespassing :)

niamh, do you know if there is a command-line version of makeavis available? or if it has that option built-in?
