hey,

got a case of reversed field order on my dvd made with idvd 4.0.1. the weird thing is ... it only occurs in two of over twenty total chapters! these chapters were marked in one contiguous source with metadata hootenanny, so i don't see how the field order could seemingly randomly change from even dominant (what it should be) to odd dominant, and then back again the next time a chapter break happens. my only explanation for this is that idvd is automatically setting the field dominance and it screws up occasionally. does anyone have any experience with this or any possible workarounds?

thanks in advance!

You may want to post how you fixed your problem. Just incase someone else runs into a similar problem down the line.

wow, is it this topic's birthday or something? :P

i fixed it by simply adjusting the field dominance of the original clip in virtualdub before i imported it into imovie (idvd was attempting to guess the field dominance of the clip if dropped directly in there, but it wasn't always successful). imovie always assumes top-first (not bottom-first like most video games). to do this, i used this .vcf file (http://nate.quandra.org/correct%20field%20dominance%20and%20export%20to%2016%20bit%20rgb%20(ntsc).vcf), in which i cut off the top line and add it to the bottom. i also export to 16-, not 24-bit rgb, because none of the games i was capturing needed 24-bit, and because the dvd master file it created would be smaller/import into imovie faster.
