I want to be able to rip my DVD's to a computer server and than have access to play them back on a remote pc. I have been using DVD Decrypter to rip my dvd's but have only been able to play them back a fule at a time. I am not able to run the DVD menu and have the dvd function as a dvd.

I have used commercial dvd player such as Real, PowerDVD and others. Again all I can do is point the player to a file and play that file.

So what I want is a movie server like I have for my MP3's. I would be willing to convert my library to MPEG4 or DIVX if that is needed. I have not found any solution for this. Help would really be appreciatted.

Thanks,

Bob Silver

DVD Decrypter has several ripping modes.
In order to view ripped files as a fully functional DVD you need to be in "File" mode !
Modes can be selected from "Mode" menu.

Yes this is how I have done it. Ripped DVd in file mode. Saved in a folder. Again when I use PowerDVD as an expamle all I can do is point it to a specific file. I can run the dvd from the dvd menu as an example. So I am not sure if you understood my question. Should I clarify?

How do you open those files in PowerDVD?
The correct way to do it, is to select from "Source" menu "Open DVD file on hard disk drive". Actual text may be different for you, as i'm referring to PowerDVD 6. But 5 also certainly has this capability.
So don't try to open DVD files as normal media files. If you selected the right open command, then PowerDVD should not ask you for a file, but a directory containing all those files you ripped.

XboxMediaCenter can be set to run as a server. It will do exactly what you want.

You don't need a Xbox because it has been ported to the PC.
