Have movie files 700mb or so will play in realplayer and divx on pc with audio, but when encoded and burned with dvd santa will play on dvd player but no audio present, the files are in xvid/avi format, could they have no audio present when posted, although still can hear audio when played on pc. Do i need audio codecs for this type of format if so where do i get them and how do i use them? It only seems to happen with xvid as all other files i do not have any problems

The problem may be only noticed with Xvid but can`t be an Xvid related problem as Xvid is a video codec, it has nothing to do with audio :)
It must have audio on the avi for you to hear it when played on your pc, I`d recommend getting hold of the freeware program VirtualDubMod. Open up one of the problem avi`s in it and see what audio it uses by choosing FILE INFORMATION from its FILE menu.
I don`t use DVD Santa so have no idea how that works but if it uses the audio decoders used by your PC then in theory anything you can play in Windows should be converted correctly including the audio.
You may want to post in the audio section of the site instead as this is really an audio problem but basically check the file information in VirtualDubMod.
If you can post the audio type used in the problem files I`m pretty sure the more knowledgeable members than I can give more specific advice :)
