View Full Version : Confused about AutoGK & subs

I use AutoGK to create xvids & XboxMediaCenter for playback. I was using external subs & checking 'show burnt-in subs only'. XBMC would think that both the AVI & the RAR files were movies & would list both after scanning & IMDB. I'm now trying internal subs, and I noticed that if I pick 'Show only burnt-in subs', the rest dont' show up, & if I don't pick it, I get burnt-in subs all through the movie. I'd like the burnt-in subs to show & the rest to show only if I enable subs in XBMC. What should I be doing?
Also, is possible to save the subs as Close Captioning? It would be cool to have them show up when the movie's muted.

AutoGK doesn't have the option 'show burnt-in subs only'.

Sorry, I meant 'Display only forced subtitles'.

You're confusing burnt-in and forced subs. Burnt-in subs cannot be switched off, so you always have to go for external subs if you want them switchable. I'm not familar with xbox and only know that DirectVobSub filter allows you to adjust playback of subs on the fly when playing on PC, i.e. switch subs on/off and switch forced subs on/off (assuming you have external subs).

Thanks. I'll stick with external subs then. I can probably just delete the rar's from the XBMC database.

btw, AVI container admits non burnt-in subs (I did it with avimuxgui and dont ask me how it works...) and the are switcheable with players like MPC (and maybe bsplayer, dont remember).
If this is not a very-rare-and-unsupported feature I think it should be interesting to see it in autoGK (despite of adding "more" confusion to the burnt-in-forced-external-etc-subs thing!), as many newbies dont think that it is easy to get external subs and play them with the video.
Maybe the answer is "they need to be OCRed before" but assuming user does it (decrypting the dvd is too an imperative external operation) it should be interesting to add them with the new external subs option (crtl+f8)
What do you think? just asking
