View Full Version : DVD-RB Suggestions

I've been using DVD Rebuilder for a couple months now. It's great software and I was happy to make a donation. Here are some suggestions I have for future versions:

1. Add a "Make Folder" option when you click on "Output Path". Right now you can only choose pre-existing folders when you click it.

2. Have DVD-RB create the output folder if it doesn't exist when it comes time to rebuild after encoding. I've wasted a couple 12 hour encodes because I accidently deleted the output directory after burning the previous rebuild to DVD. After DVD-RB was done encoding and went to rebuild everything into the "output" folder it errored out.

3. Provide an option to pause if the disk space runs out on the output drive. I've sometimes transferred DV from the camcorder to the output drive while encoding and fell slightly below 4.32 gig free space while DVD-RB was rebuilding, after encoding, and it errored out. It would be nice to have an option to clear some space and then continue rather than have to run a 10 hour encode all over again.

4. Allow for the user to set the output size of the rebuild. Right now using CCE the size is always 4.31-4.32 gig. It would be nicer to get it closer to 4.37 gig (4.35?).

Thanks for listening to my suggestions. Perhaps some other users would find some use for these as well.

I do not undestand the issue:
- If you run out of space when encoding RB will stop and then close when you OK the error mesagge. Then you can just re-strat the encoding from the last segment (you must use the 3-click method)
- If it happens durinf rebuilding, just re-start the rebuild from the beginning (hal an hour)
4. Allow for the user to set the output size of the rebuild
RB already have this. Please read in the Settings sticky post at the top of this forum about the TargetSectors setting

I use the one click method and let it run for 12 hours. The problem occured during the rebuild phase. I use the system drive (Raptor) for the temp folder. The output folder is on the storage drive. If the situation arises again I will restart DB and use the 3-click method to attempt to recover the rebuilding phase.

Thanks!

Great tool to tweak your settings.
