View Full Version : I need a DRM workaround

Hi, I've got this problem I was hoping I could get a little help with. I have a bunch of educational videos for Intro to Linux and Unix shell scripting that I have access to through a website I paid money to, but there's so much DRM that I can hardly make use of them, and I don't get to keep them.

Instead of nice downloadable AVI files, the videos are provided through a media player that streams them from thier site, with Quicktime as a dependency but actually playing through thier own player. I have to have both players installed for it to show me the videos. I only have access to them for 30 days before I have to pay even more money for continued access.

Obviously this is highly unacceptable for me. What I was hoping for was some help finding a tool that would help me record just the output of whatever's on my screen and record that along with whatever's coming out of my speakers. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, even something that's just taking a bunch of fast screenshots would be good enough for me, since these videos aren't that great quality to begin with.

Can somebody help me find a tool like that?

I believe number 6 of this (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) may be the answer.

Sorry I didn't read your rules. I guess, maybe, I should have asked that a different way. Still, all I was asking was for was an answer to my question, or a link or something. I seriously doubt that puts this site in any danger, because it's just somebody excercising freedom of speech.
Besides, why can't a person talk about stuff like that? DRM sucks. Monopolizing information sucks. Why should anyone be afraid to say something like that?

Well you agreed to pay them money to get access for 30days. If you dont like it dont use and dont support DRM-ed solutions. I'm sure you can get a lot free info / doc material about the subject just not in video form but in simple text :)
