Been hiting a wall when getting to the AVI size limit in AutoGK.

I'm try to back-up Godfather3 as one AVI file. (I would then burn as a UFO Data DVD) As its 200 mins with 5.1 audio, I want to use as much space as I can. I know that the max file size for AVI 2.0 is 4 gigs. But, even when I set the file size to 3.9 (90 megs to the max size) I'm getting error messages about the file size being too big. Strange part is that I set the size as 3.9 with Godfather1 without issue.

So,

1.) Do I have the size still to big? I want to keep the quality in the high 70's so I need as much space as I can.

2.) Is there a way to rip and split a movie with DVD Decrypter? It seems like I hit problems with the cell check box going on and off. (Do I lose data from the movie with this not checked?)

The maximum filesize of openDML AVIs is probably larger than the size of your Harddrive. Standard AVIs have a size limit of 2 GB

I'm wondering: are you doing this on a FAT32 partition?

Or where are you gettng the error messages?

My hard drive is FAT32.

I have made many XviD back-ups with AutoGK that is greater than 2 gigs.

I'm sure that the cap for AVI 2.0 is 4 gigs.

If I could split the movie with DVD Decypter, it would help. But, everytime I try, I get the wrong start/end chapter.

And I'm sure its not. For FAT32 however, the size limit IS 4 GB :p

Hi,

Correct me if I'm wrong but first pass can generate a file larger than the size you specify. For example a 2GB target can generate a 2.2 GB first pass .avi (second pass "fixes" the size).

If you set your target size so close to your filesystem (FAT32) size limit, you'll hit it in the first pass.

:logfile: and make sure you're using latest AutoGK as recently I fixed a few bugs for win9x systems in general and FAT32 in particular.
