I have a wierd question perhaps.. I've got a 720x576 fullscreen DVD-mpeg that I'd like to recode into (fake) "widescreen". Is there a way of doing this? In TMPGENC you could "crop" the source which is simple but I'd like to control in some way what's displayed and what's not. Hope someone understand what I mean... :-)

so you wanna remove picture information from the top and bottom and encode the result anamorphic, right?
should be easy with avisynth, i can post a script later today or tomorrow, if you like

Yeah, but I'd like not to have a "static camera" (like cropping in tmpgenc), but I'd like to be able to "move around" the view.. If you get it...

you can do this in avisynth aswell
either cutting or using animate

quote honestly, not such a great idea to begin with. a pan&scan transfer already ruined the picture and now you want to cut more info from it? you'll end up with probably half the picture that was originally shot. I know it's not great to have a pan&scan movie, but it's not getting any better by cutting away more.
