AC3 Divx- no audio- help

I am having some troubles converting an avi file to a dvd file with TMPGEnc- I've tried this twice and waited 20 hours each time so I really need to understand what I'm doing wrong. I used this guide:

-which is probably why I'm having problems. I started out w/ two avi files which I joined using VirtualDub. Then I extracted the AC3 audio using VirtualDubMod. I then opened up TMPGEnc and followed that guides' instructions- I used the Project Wizard, selected the avi file, etc. Okay, now 20 hours later I have two files on my hard drive, an .m2v file and a .m2a file. I open up IfoEdit and select both these files and click Okay. It creates a folder which I am supposed to be able to burn to DVD with. Only problem is, the folder is only 3.12 Gb and has NO audio (actually, the .m2a had no audio to begin with). What am I doing wrong? In IfoEdit I've tried selecting the .AC3 file instead of the .m2a file but this does not seem to help. How can I get the sound to work right? why is TMPGEnc not creating 4.7 Gb worth of files?

PS. Does anyone know if it is possible to burn a DVD with the existing files I have (.m2v,.m2a, .ac3) - because I would really prefer not to wait another 20 hours- thanks.

nevermind, I'm just gonna use Doom9's guide using AVItoVCSD or whatever its called.

AFAIK TMPG does not accept AC3 files... Therefore you have no audio in mp2 file.

abond is correct tmp 2.8 and below dont support ac3 best thing to do is extract the aduio with v-dub and convert with besweet or another applactaion that can make mp2-3. i say you should convert to mp2 you'll have a lot less problems that way

so far I know IfoEdit supports AC3, so if you use the original AC3-file you should get sound. but maybe your dvd software program doesn't support AC3(?), although it should.. but don't use mp3 since it's not a supported dvd format.

easy way to fix this is to get besweet gui and besweet i put my common cmd list i run thru the gui on this post if you whant it all you have to do is replace the old one but its fairly simple app to run. after you have ripped the dvds use dvd2avi and save project. from that you will get a muxed ac3 file (all channels in 1 file). then run it thru besweet. when its done mux the video and sound together just rember on the file name it will show the delay +,0,- make sure you set that or the sound will be off. If you joined two files with virtual dub, saved it as one file, and then demuxed it into separate video and audio (AC3) streams, you can process the video in tmpgenc on it's own and simply remux the ac3 audio back in at the end, rather than convert it to mpeg audio.

Any m2a files that tmpgenc produces with audio it cannot understand will be useless. If you have ac3 audio to begin with, keep it!
