I sometimes capture some shows from TV and I use Xvid becouse, i do not have enough space. Since I started use Xvid 1.1 I have blue and yellow smudges (usually yellow smudges in blue field and blue smudges in white field, and combination of bouth with other colours)
This smudges are only in P-frames. I-frames are perfectly clean. Before I used for capturing Xvid 1.03, 1.02, 1.01, 1.0 (same setting as now) and before Xvid 1.0 i Use nic´s compilations from 2003 and I had never this problem.
my setting for capture is didee max 24 matrix, interlanced encoding, no B-frames, no vhq, no chroma, fixed quantizer 2.0 or 1.5

Anybody no idea?
This problem is realy connected only with Xvid 1.1. I have no hardware problems, I tried reinstall older versions and picture was perfect, then again Xvid 1.1 and the same problem is here again.
Other codecs OK (hufman, mjpeg, mpeg2)
This problem is not connected with any television interference, this problem is with every chanel. Worst are white small objects (letters) on blue field.

Can you try h263 or mpeg matrix please? Does it help the problem?
(Btw., thread bumping is unwanted behaviour here.)

I have tried MPEG, H263 and Andreas with the same result. I tried Koepi´s and Celtic Druid´s 1.1 beta1 compilations.
Here is sample of MPEG matrix

PS What do you exactly mean "thread bumping" my english is not perfect and I don´t understand this expression
I´m not posting here to enjoy unwanted behaviour. I´m posting here to help find bugs and problems, because Xvid is my favourite Mpeg4 codec (I belive that is The best Mpeg4 codec). Xvid team do great job.

I have the same problem. I think, there is something wrong with the xvid-decoder(1.1). Libavcodec (ffdshow) decodes without errors.
xvid:

libavcodec:

The clip is encoded interlaced (top field first). Changing settings (h263 or mpeg matrix) does not help.

thread bumping = useless replying to your own posting with the intention to "bump" your thread on top of the forum

positive it´s decoder problem. I tried install Xvid 1.03 and yesterday´s captures (made by 1.1beta1) seems to be OK. I´am not able to find any smudge.

Thanks for looking deeper into this, it sre helps to see that it's a decoder problem! :)
Cheers
