This maybe a really dumb question but the answer is eluding me
I just bought Nero ultra and I like Nero Digital. Been using AutoGK
with XVID codec.

The Problem I having is I like to use Winamp to play my Movies.
How Do I get Winamp to play a nero digital .mp4 video.

I get sound but no video with winamp

Thanks in advance

Why using winamp to play movies?!?!? It's buggy and has buggy internal codecs.

you could decode your mp4 files with ffdshow ... but i don't know if winamp can handle this....

http://m17n.cool.ne.jp/freeware/mpc/ffdshow-20050216.exe

btw: i dont think winamp is a good choice to playbach videos.... there are much better directshow software players like zoomplayer, the core mediaplayer, mediaplayerclassic...

No, winamp has it's own mp4 splitter and decoder... and obviously it does not decode the video stream...

OT: the 16-02 build is up on celtic druid's mirror.

Sat32, next time plz use a thread title that describes the content of your post :)

i am not sure whether winamp supports dshow filters, normally it doesnt afaik...
yep, winamp offers a (non-dshow) .mp4 splitter and an aac decoder, but i dont think mpeg-4 asp or avc video decoders, so using winamp for .mp4 video files might be a nono, as i think it only supports .mp4 audio-only files

moved to software player forum

IIRC there should be a 3rd party mp4 filter that supports HE-AAC+PNS and decodes MPEG-4 ASP but not AVC.
Try googling a bit.

Yes, it does. You have to associate the MP4 extension to it's DShow playback module somehow ... this got me my MPC files playing in Winamp with RL's MPC DSF :) But I don't know exactly how to do that as I don't use Winamp.

Got it to work

Deleated a ACC decoder I installed trying to get it to work
installed latest 3ivx and added .mp4 to the direct show decoder
in Winamp.

I know isn't the greatest player but it works well with my remote
and I like the way it does playlists

Thanks for the help:sly:

Thanks for the help:sly: Could you elaborate a little more how you did this? I'd like to try it out.

I just did a clean install of windowsXP
So with the following codec's installed
it works.

Xvid latest version
3ivx latest version
DIVX anti-freeze
WM9codecs

Winamp 5 latest version

In winamp go to; Options>Prefences>Plug-ins>Input.
Select; Nullsoft Directshow Decoder, Click Configure
and add ;MP4 to the exstension list

I believe the only codec needed for to play MP4 video is
3ivx but just in case.

I am encoding with a standard profile 2pass main movie only haven't tried AVC yet.
