View Full Version : How to change QuEnc version properly??

I want to switch from QuEnc v56 to QuEnc v54 or v57. I cannot find anywhere to download v57, so if anyone has it or knows where I can get it I would appreciate the info or a copy of the app.
I had v56 installed via the DVD-RB Installer. I cut v56 out of the QuEnc folder and pasted in v54. When I ran RB I immediately got an error message saying something about a missing avcodec.dll file, so I copied and pasted that into the same folder with QuEnc v54. I then tried running RB again.
I still have not been able to get DVD-RB+QuEnc to work. Can anyone tell me if I correctly installed QuEnc v54 and avcodec.dll? I'm wondering if I was supposed to put the avcodec.dll somewhere else, or if I should have uninstalled QuEnc v56 before putting v54 in its place.
Any advice of input greatly appreciated, thanks.

I've seen it in the Doom9 forum but I'm to lazy to search, you can get it here:
http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=5
Edit: QuEnc .59b2 works fine if you use the right DGDecode.dll or MPEG2Dec3dg.dll
You can get them here: http://dvd-rb.dvd2go.org/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=8

Ok, so I downloaded v59b2 and I now have a host of those .dll versions.
I still am not sure if I have installed QuEnc properly though - can I just overwrite the old QuEnc with the new version? Same with the .dll file(s)? Or is there more to it than that?
And just which one is the proper DGDecode.dll version to use with QuEnc v59, the 100, 110, or 120 ??? Or do I need to play a little with it to see which one works for my set up?
I've been using whatever the default is that came with DVD-RB Installer, I think that's the 110.
Thanks for the help on those download sites - anyone have input on my other questions?

I tried QuEnc 0.57 and 0.59b2 and was getting undersized results, so I dropped back to 0.54. (I'm using Rebuilder 0.76; a few previous releases wouldn't work with QuEnc 0.54 - QuEnc complained about an invalid parameter, "mpeg2mux". Rebuilder 0.76 detects QuEnc 0.54 and doesn't pass that parameter.)
(And yes, to change versions I just unpack QuEnc.exe from the QuEnc0nn.zip file into my bin directory, overlaying whatever is there.)

The one that comes with the Installer is fine. I've test and played around with with alot of the .dll files and still use decodefix110mod.zip (MPEG2Dec3dg.dll) from http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74308 the first one jdobbs said to use when DVD-RB first came out, picture quality with DVD-RB is the same and it always works.

@nathanaa
Well... everything in the installer should work perfectly as long as you don't mess up the setup after that... If you found any bug in the installer submit it on the Installer's thread (topic) on this forum.
