View Full Version : Seek delay with VBR MPEG1 encoded files

Lately I've been converting some DV videos to MPEG1 and I've noticed that when I encode them using either 2-pass VBR or CQ mode, there are sometimes delays when seeking in the videos. It only happens in certain parts of certain videos but the delay can be up to 10 sec long which can be pretty annoying. I get the seek delay in WMP10 and Zoomplayer but not in MPC. And if I encode the videos in CBR instead, the seek delays are no longer there.

So I'm wondering if this is just a limitation of VBR MPEG1 that I'll have to live with or if there is some solution for this. Can anyone help me? Thanks.
