I have a movie, from which, i want to extract a chapter and subtitles too...However i cannot make the subs work. My problem seems to be the initial subtitles start time, since i cannot find how i will sync them.
The movie starts at: 01:40:06.927 / Delay: 11160ms
The subtitles (.srt) start at 01:40:06.927, however are not displayed since the movie clip is just 3mins. I have seen the time correction feature at Subrip, but cannot understand what i am supposed to do. Any help?:confused:

Hhmmm, the movie might start at 1:40:06.927, but once separated so to speak, it will start at zero :)
Methinks you need to resynch the subs forward of 01:40:06.927, and then see if this looks better.
Open the srt in subrip , click correction> time correction >
choose minus, enter 1, 40, 06, 927 in the according boxes, and click correct time. Don't forget to save the file(keep the original as is, you never know), and then check again.
If I got it wrong, please come back to me :)

Hi,
Sorry for not being so clear about this. I want to extract Chapter 19 and of course its subs. I use DVD Decrypter and Vobsub too. SubRip recognizes the subtitles OK, but the Chapter starts at 01:40:06.927. The Chapter 19 has 3:13mins duration...
If i keep the extracted srt files as it stands, the subs never appear. I manually used the Time correction function, used the minus 01:40:06.927, subrip prompts that the first time position of subtitles will be zero, Ok i thought...
The problem is that...subs now appear at 0 seconds, which however isn't correct, since the characters start speaking around 13secs after the clip starts...
To sum up:
* Chapter 19 has initial start time (from the whole movie): 01:40:06.927
* Chapter 19 Duration: 3:13mins
* Characters Start speaking around 13secs after the clip, where the subs should appear
* What i should to make the subs sync with the characters? :(

we're clearer now :)
first things first, did you tick "reset time at the first included vob/cell id" in vobsub, in the window where you select the languages? You need to. If you didn't, then redo it now, if you did, something went wrong, and we'll go about resynching manually in that case. It isn't hard really. (same in subrip, you need to click on "clear text file" and "reset last timecode"<< should be zero; if you were playing with other stuff beforehand)
edit: by the way, I figured the subs wouldn't start at zero, but this was the fastest way to make them appear and make sure this was the issue :)
