hi,

my problem is the next. I have installed the newest 5.2.1 DivX, and I want to encode some videos with DivX technology and after, these files will must be playable on computer with older DivX 5.0.1 version.
On the other comp is not possible to install the new version.
Is there a command line parameter, or other tool (version, header or anything changer...), what can be a solution for this?
Thank you
l0rd

Installing xvid decoder and using it to decode all the mpeg4 stuff (including divx5.2.1).

i assume l0rd means he cant install anything on the other computer

i dunno if divx501 already decoded full mpeg-4 asp, but you might want to not use mpeg quants, b-frames, qpel, gmc to be on the save side, but better test it on your pc first, cause all this will hurt quality of course

5.01 should play everything except multiple B-frames, 3-point GMC, and perhaps 4MV.

thank you guys!
...and where I can disable this exceptions before encoding 5.2.1?
I mean "multiple B-frames, 3-point GMC, and perhaps 4MV" :))
...or, I can encode normally, and the video will be played on other comp without these things with bad picture quality?
best wishes all

4MV is never used in 5.2.1

QPel and GMC are options that can be disabled from the encoder configuration GUI. In fact, they should be disabled by default.
