Trying to rip a region 4 disk to region 0 (I'm in the US). Using DVD43 worked and I used DVDshrink to copy and rip with Nero. The settings in shrink are set to Region 0. It all seems to process ok but when I try to play the disk in my home DVD player it can't read the new disk. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

hi mwpeace and welcome to the forum!

the problem is not in regards to the region coding of the disc, either prior or post processing.
the problem is that you are trying to play a PAL disc in an NTSC player.
here in australia (r4) we are lucky in that most (all????) dvd player / televesion combinations support playback of NTSC discs, however it is my understanding that the reverse is not so applicable in the US.
your only options are to buy a PAL compatible system or to re-encode the PAL disc to NTSC which can be a time consuming process at best. there are many threads throughout the forum that deal with format conversion.

good luck

Hi Jel,
Thanks for the info. Looking at other threads and will decide what to do.

Hello again Jel,
Found a simple way to do it. 25 years of DP experience taught me to try the unconventional!
I used DVDdecryper to decrypt and load the PAL files unto my hard disk. I then used Intervideo DVD Creator (came with my converter-its a simple movie making program - I use it to create DVDs of my old VHS videos) and imported the VOB movie files. I had to create my own Menu and sub menus. This product also burns a DVD at the end of the process.
I just viewed the DVD and it is perfect.
I tried DVDSanta but it doesn't convert the PAL to NTSC very well. It's very choppy. Interesting thing about DVD Santa. I used the trial version but when it created the conversion files it created multiple versions of the movie (8 VOB files) and only the first one had their DEMO title all over it. I wonder if they know.
Anyway, I think the process I used above can be performed with Roxio too.
If anyone out there has the time try it and if anyone can figure out how to get the meus and put it all together in Roxio - please post the solution.
If I can figure out how to pick up the original menus, I'll drop a note (this weekend's project).
