I am trying to encode an avi file to rmvb using realmedia producer version 1.85 and avisynth version 2.55 with ffdshow version 20050201 and it is giving me a black screen on my preview when i tick ( Force DirectShow )in the ( More... ) menu but unticked it work fine. What could be the problem, a collegue told me to update my directx and i did it to version 9.0c the newest one and it did not solve the problem, do you have an idea what could make ( Force DirectShow feature ) work?
(I am using a video card asus gforce2 32 meg with the latest nvidia driver)
(I use a french windows xp pro)

Your source is DIV3, and preview don't work with it. Known bug reported 1 year ago :)

I have used g-spot and it told me that my file is a divx4 also, i have tried about 15 different files as different as possible mpg, avi, mkv.. anything else and it still gave me that black screen...?!

In ffdshow, is "use overlay muxer" enabled? I think your system don't use the same codec for VFW and DShow decoding.

I ticked it and it did not solve it ...(lots of possible configuration there... woaw, i was not aware of this area)

In ermp in (More) (preview while encoding) is ticked, were you talking about tis one?

Yes, had to be sure :)

Could you try with RealAnime 2.20 or 2.10 to see if preview works? I think 2.25+ had SDK removed.

I am using another setting. I keep this config in fill in case i decid to give it another try. Thanks for your help Sirber :-)!

i had a simular problem with mine after i formated but once i updated to sp2 everything worked again.... so raph just update to windows sp2

im not sure but b4 i did sp2 i tried updating the directx tp 9.0c and it still didnt get the preview to work and then when i installed sp2 the previews worked.
