i know i can do this in GK, but any future support for mp4 or matroska in autogk? or maybe nero digital? or does nero keep their codec to themselves so we can't use it in autogk?

i've tried other programs that can do this, but they're a pain to use, and not as nice as autogk. what can i say, autogk rocks...love it...would want to stick with it...but wanted to start doing some mp4's and or matroska videos that would include chapters.

thanks,

Nerodigital can be used only within recode.
Len0x already stated he won't support matroska unless it becomes supported by standalone players (unlikely).
He's working on adding x264 and AAC audio with mp4 container to autogk but only when x264 becomes stable and when all the main features will be implemented and working as expected.

kewl thanks, i don't care if it's nero digital or matroska, mp4 is good enough for me... thanks,

well, nero digital and x264 are mpeg-4 AVC codecs while matroska and mp4 are only containers (like avi).

thanks, appreciate the info.

here's the main reason why i'm looking into nero digital, mp4 and or matroska:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89133

the Zensonic Z500 player is supposed to be able to play them all and coming to the US in june or july so far. i wanna throw my pinnacle showcenter out the door when it does...

i just want smooth playing mpeg 4 files with chapter support, that's it... not much to ask for :) so right now, i'm stuck with xvid or divx on the showcenter, no mp4, matroska, or nero digital mp4 files. and xvid and divx files play choppy during pan or high motion scenes, probably because of the bandwidth spike. max for that sigma chip for xvid/divx is about 1500 i think.

Well, if your player is divx certified, divx encodes should play without problems (if you have not disabled the Home Theater profile).
Even xvid 1.1 (beta) encodes should play with no problems (ensure you select DXN HT profile in the encoder config).
For what concerns NeroDigital compatible/certified standalones you can check this thread:
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=88775
Keep in mind those players support only the NeroDigital Advanced Simple Profile (ASP - like DivX and Xvid).
NeroDigital offers also some AVC profiles but they're still not supported by any standalone players. Also x264 is an AVC codec and it's not supported by standalones as well.

thanks, it's all clear to me now, gotta stick with showcenter for a while then.

i'm using the latest version of autogk (1.89b) with divx 5.2.1 pro codec and i'm assuming autogk will default to home theater profile right when encoding? for the life of me i can't figure out why shocenter is playing these divx files so choppy at times. it's using the same sigma chip as other players that have no problems. multiple people on the showcenter forum have the same compliant and pinnacle has no comment. :( :( :(

just found this on pinnacle forums:

http://webboard.pinnaclesys.com/read_messages.asp?lng=1&WebboardID=1&ForumID=1087&ThreadID=194222&Search=1&ThreadStart=0

ouch, they're not divx certified....

It looks like there is a bug (or more) in the showcenter firmware.
If the chipset is the same as other DivX certified players it's only a matter of software...
Anyways, autogk use HT profile for DivX while it uses AS@L5 for Xvid.
When autogk will support xvid 1.1 then probably DXN HT profile will be used for xvid too.

FYI, current AutoGK uses DivX HT profile when option "birate spikes control" is activated during install. Previously it was always on.

BTW does the AAC support also depends on whether or not the stable version of x264 is out, or is it only an independant matter of time? If so do you have an idea on which version of Auto-GK will AAC be included ?

Len0x is working on it. Please have some patience.

AAC support only depends on MP4 support that has to be implemented first... No timeframe atm.

Untrue :). As musicnyman said the Zensonic Z500 (http://www.z500series.com/specs.php) is out soon, and will support matroska. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait
