.m2v Specifications

I'm having trouble with .m2v files and TMPGEnc Plus. Some .m2v files can be opened and some can't. Is there a program that can open an .m2v file and rebuild it into a form that TMPGEnc can open? I have some that VirtualDubMod can open when TMPGEnc can't, and don't want to have to frameserve or other stuff to be able to edit the file.

And what IS the internal structure?

Usually you can use a hex editor to remove everything prior to the first sequence header to make TMPGE happy.
