View Full Version : reasonable way to encode and play dirac?

I read the instructions and had to force myself not to puke on the floor. Not userfriendly would be a compliment. It seems the encoder requires YUV input. So, theoretically avs2yuv should handle that.. but there's the header thing that needs to be created. And then how to mux and play the output in a reasonable way?
Or is Dirac just lightyears away from being ready for normal use?

If it's getting developed further in the current pace, we'll have to wait a few years until it's ready for practical usage (yes, i'm a pessimist :p).

So far, I've not found a lot where testing would make any sense.

Playback should work via MPC or Gabest's splitter with another player. Still not much use if you can't actually encode something.

you can encode dirac with a vlc plugin
I make little encoding tests with this.
But it was to slow (encoding and decoding) for the moment
