First of all, I would like to say hello to you all. I really have a very weird problem. A few days ago I set up a pc for my friend, installed all the parts and so. And I installed all the latest drivers, and the codecs. When I tried to playback a movie encoded with XviD, I couldn't, the movie wouldn't play and the seeker bar wouldn't move. Later I switched to VMR to try to play the file, this time I could go to a spesific frame and see the content, but the file wouldn't still play. After that I uninstalled XviD and tried playing the file with the DivX decoder or ffdshow, but I wasn't succesful. I've also tried a lot of different media players. The only codec that could play it was the Nero codec that came bundled with the Nero Reloaded package. I can play the file (which I've encoded myself) flawlessly on my own pc or any other that I've tried so far. The system spesifications:

CPU: Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ (478, HT, Presscott)
RAM: 256x2 DDR400
Graphics: Geforce 5700 256MB
OS: Windows XP SP2 (fresh install)
DirectX 9.0c

Thank you very much...

Edit: I've searched the entire forum and any other Digital Video source I can find only to fail...

Are you *really* sure that it's encoded with XviD?

Try open that file with Virtualdub then File>File Information.. and look what FourCC/decoder is shown.

Btw, I am the Turkish Doom9 webmaster and have enough knowledge to tell if the file is encoded with XviD or not ;). Anyway thanks guys, after a lot of searching, I discovered that computer configurations that are similar to mine have the same problem. Actually It's not a problem with XviD. If you install WXP SP2 (integrated) to computers like mine DirectX causes a lot of problems. I've found the solution in sticking to SP1... (Anyway I should have figured that. After I posted this thread I found out that several DirectX filters weren't functioning correctly (incl. Ac3Filter)).
