problem with Xvid movie

I have here in my computer (P.4 2.8GHz, ATI 9700pro and 512mb DDR 400MHz) a Xvid movie and when i try to repoduce him I open the Windows Media player 10 but barely i open the program, he closes whithout a error mensage, simply closes and it hapens with other programmes too. I have the Koepi's 1.0.3 Xvid decoder and encoder (20/12/2004).Any one help me please.(Sorry for my bad English)

1. what codecs / directshow-filters beside XviD do you have installed?
2. did you use any codec packs?
3. did you made sure everything was corectly installed (i.e. a clean uninstall of any former version etc)?
4.was the movie encoded by yourself (i.e. are you sure that the codec used was XviD and that the file is not coruppted)?
