I am trying to copy a VCD to DVD. I am following all the steps mentioned in this forum, but getting an error. I have two mpgs (converted from .DAT) and I have joined them, but when I try to load it in spruceup, it bombs. What may be the cause. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

If its an mpeg file without menu's etc, just plain movie i think you can just rename it to a VOB. Then launch ifoedit, hit create ifo and select your vob.
If your ifo's are done you can hit the create image button which should make you a proper dvd image wich you can burn with, for instance, nero.

I stopped using SpruceUp a long time ago because I found out that it enforces restrictions on DVDs that the standards actually allow. I had a laserdisc that I wanted to burn to DVD because at the time it was a foreign film that was not available on DVD. One GOP had 16 frames instead of 15. I tried everything I could to get that GOP down to 15 frames and nothing I did worked. DVD format allows for GOPs of up to 18 frames, so a 16 frame GOP is valid, if unusual. SpruceUp crashed and burned everytime I tried to input that video stream. I taught myself the hard way how to use Scenarist and it took the video stream with no problem. Most DVD authoring solutions refuse to work with MPEG-1 video, when in fact DVD specs do allow it, with some restrictions on bit rate. I would bet just about anything that the real problem is that SpruceUp won't accept any MPEG-1 video and if so, the only solution is to use another tool. Other than Scenarist, I know that DVD Lab will accept MPEG-1 video for DVD. I wouldn't be surprised if TMPGenc's DVD authoring program would accept it too, but I don't know.
