Ok, I would like to state.. That i'm not a total noob to this. And i've read all guides/rules to make these sweet xvid/divx ripp's and the hundreds of different ways to do it, what ppl use and all that yada yada.
The one place im stuck like 2 hours each day testing my ass off is the aspect ratios and the resolution/cropping. I guess many ppl wonders about this.. But i never had any problems until i made my old tv experience a drop from the second floor to the concrete below this weekend and got my self a 32 inch widescreen, and now i want the ripps to show on the tv the same size as if i inserted the original dvd in there and watched that.
Ok. The "brainer" is.. A dvd has picture source right? often here a PAL 25 FPS 720x576 (Sorry if i mistype too much here but i guess you understand me.) And when u use certain proggs and auto select aspect 16:9 with cropping and removing of black borders you get something like 720x288 as output. This aint right.. It should be more like x405 so you remove the crop.. since this makes no sence. and your stuck to a 720x400 but this looks bretty bad. After testing everything that equals anamorpich ripping solutions i've banged my head against the keyboard a coupple of times, but since the stores are closed now i guess posting hoping someone out there survived this :p 2: ripping a dvd in a 4:3 format gives the anamorphic source a resolution that actaully is 720x576. Playing this 4:3 shows the same picture on a monitor that power dvd does(from orginal dvd).. So i automaticly tought that this would make the tv show this the same way as the dvd does there.. and im right, right? why do we need to select anamorphic 16:9 ripping method when it does not make any sence and screws things up? Or have walked down a dark alley here?
