i'm looking for an MPEG1 solution which lets us capture video from composite/svideo source in realtime to MPEG1.. This, however, is not the real problem.. The main problems exists in the fact that i would like to be able to change the bitrate of the video! All the encoder cards I have seen limit you to about 1mbps for mpeg1...

You see, we need a format which will be compatible with (old) PC's, Mac's and Linux machines.. MPEG1 plays on any system, and even raising the bitrate a bit is no problem anymore these days due to the speed of harddrives/cd & dvd drives..

If any other suggestions exist for creating cross-platform media files in realtime in low resolutions which still look good, please reply or contact me!

We have seen the amazing Kompressor boards made by Ateme, but they are a little on the expensive side for now.. We need some cheap & quick to do some projects to make enough cash for the Kompressor system..

If possible it should be able to run on a laptop...
