Hi . I have a plextor convertx model px-m402u video encoder. i am trying to find a way to use it to capture uncommpressed video but cant seem to find a solution. As far as I know the only software that works with it is Intervideo's WINDVD Creator (which comes with it) and there is no option to add codecs(Huffy for instance) or use any other method to capture raw video(uncommpressed). Also the box has a chip in it from WIS which is a GO7007SB - Is this the Capture chip? If so is it a VfW type or a WDM type? I tried using Vdub along with Windvd but it is a no go.
Any info would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance -

This is a hardware MPEG-2/4 encoder; as a general rule if it's an external box it usually won't give you access to the uncompressed stream. As far as I know you cannot get access to an uncompressed stream on the ConvertX, which wouldn't be "ideal" for your USB 2.0 bus anyway. Even if you could mess around with settings to get an "uncompressed" stream, I'd be willing to bet it would most likely already have been compressed to MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 and then decompressed.

On the bright side, there are many people who are happy with the Plextor's visual quality considering that it's a hardware encoder. I've seen one or two amateur DVDs made with the unit that looked decent enough.
