View Full Version : Some subtitles are shaking

I have two xvid-avi´s (PAL) containing one movie. I first join them in VirtualDub. Then I join my two subtitle srt´s in Urusoft Subtitle Workshop, and then checks that the timing is okey.
Then I convert the whole xvid-movie to DVD using DivxToDVD, and after that I convert the joined srt subtitle file to sup subtitle file using SubtitleCreator. I´m using a IFO-file from a real DVD to get the colors right.
In SubtitleCreator I have tried a lot of different fonts and sizes and also tried both transparent and solid black as background but when I play the movie in my standalone DVD-player some of the subtitles are shaking or are indistinct. It looks like the first two subtitles are ok then the next two or three are bad and then it continues like that. When playing the dvd on my computer it looks okey.

I tell you how I continue the process of producing the DVD.
After the conversion of movie and subtitles, I split the VOBs using VobEdit so I get one m2v-file and one ac3-file.
Then I open the IFO-file created by DivxToDVD and saves the celltimes to my harddrive. Then I close IfoEdit and opens it again and choose to author a new DVD. I choose the m2v, ac3, sup and celltimes-files and lets IfoEdit multiplex them to normal DVD-structure again. At last I import the colors from the IFO-file, that I used when converting the subtitles, to the IFO-file created by IfoEdit.
Then, when I have burned the DVD with Nero, I get the errors that I explained above when playin it on my standalone dvd-player (connected to my TV).

Anyone who have any ideas?

same problem here

i ve found out that shaking subs happens to me when
- i add subs to NTSC (no problem with PAL)
- there are two lines displaying
- with my TV/DVDplayer ( same disc come out fine at my brothers/neighbours)

i ve same problem with srt2sup , same problem with rejig
There must be something to do with the sub redering.
Some guy told me to change number of pixels in outline but i never has succes with it.

Anybody has ideas before i change player ?

Read Subtitle Creator sticky. I've isolated a problem with my player and it concerns the vertical placement of subpicture. It has to be an even number. It seems that Paddington solved this in the latest version. You can also use dvdsuptools to reposition the subpicture to a fixed even offset, as per my mail that you can find on the last page of the sticky.

Thanks, I try this tonight.
Since my last post I have tried srt2sup and I got the same result. But I also tried txt2sup http://xoomer.virgilio.it/divxgr2/sup.html and with this software it worked. Although I get another error (when using the capital letter 'Ö' the two dots on top of the 'O' is partially visable at the bottom of the screen) but I dont get the shaking of the subs anymore. I can work around this problem by using smaller size of the font (20 instead of 22). But if SubtitleCreator has solved the shaking-bug in the new release all my problems are gone! :)

the txt2sup has the option to separate the two lines so if at the second line was a problem then you should try to separate the two lines even more . ( with the vertical offset ). If there is some bug with txt2sup let me know since i m the author i will try to fix it !

The only reason that i made this tool is that the tool of erik, at the time, couldnt parse the ifo pallette correctly.

Have a nice day !
