View Full Version : 15 GB movie!

I've got a DVD where the main movie is 15 GB. It's actually only 5 GB,
but the movie title is replicated two additional times, so DVDShrink
thinks it's composed of three titles each of which is 5 GB. I'm sure
this is done by cleverly constructing some .IFO file so that all three
titles are actually sharing the same VTS files.

As it stands, DVDShrink thinks it needs to compress the main movie
much more than it really needs to. This brings up some questions:

1. Has anyone seen this before? I'm sure it's just an attempt to make
it more difficult to copy the disk.

2. Will DVDShrink attempt to process all three titles of the main
movie, or will it realize that all three titles share the same
VTS files and just process it once?

3. Is there any (easy) editing of some IFO I can do to eliminate the
duplicate titles? I don't think they are accessible by any menus.

4. Is there any other easy pre-processing of the DVD I can do so that
DVDShrink can work on the DVD?

Thanks,

PK

Hi planterking and welcome.

Tick View - Combine shared titles. It will get it down to size.

They have simply replicated the main movie for some other reason - alternate ending, director's comments that branch elsewhere during the commentary etc.

It CAN'T be 15GB. A DVD-9 only holds 7.95GB.

Yeah, I figured they must be using some "trick" to share titles.

It appears that DVDShrink automatically checked "Combine shared titles",
so hopefully it will just do the right thing.

Thanks for the help!
