Two minor change requests, and a question:

First the question: What is the new "Profile" field for? I thought it might be another name for the Colorimetry field in DGDecode's Info(), but it doesn't seem to be. So I have no idea what it does.

Now the requests.

1) Can Bitrate be specified in Kbps? or even Mbps? (there's lots of room on the field) I can't count 8, 9, 10 digit numbers that fast!!!

2) Can you move the "Info" field up to the video section? It should probably be renamed to "Field Order" or something. The FAQ indicates this field also produces a few other values that don't have anything to do with field order. In fact, I have never seen these other values, maybe they need re-evaluated?

@Cyberia

The next beta (probably this evening) will have these.

Profile is MPEG jargon, known only to insiders. Sorry!

You could consult the ISO spec to learn all about profiles and levels.

Bitrate is now given as a decimal Mbps figure: e.g., 5.673 Mbps

I've made a separate Field Order box in the video section, showing either "Top" or "Bottom".

The Info box can display various stuff:

P.E.! = Picture Error
V.E.! = Video Error
A.E.! = Audio Error
For audio operations, either the prescale ratio or N.A. (not applicable).

This is exactly my point about re-evaluating this field. The messages are obscure and unintrusive. When will any of these error messages appear? Would we be better served with a popup messagebox rather than a reclusive textbox in the event of these errors?

I didn't know they existed until I rewrote the FAQ! :) I bet most people never know. Error messages should be almost obnoxious. They need to get your attention, cause, hey, something went worng!

That said, it isn't a big deal, just a design argument. Do what you will.

Well, I agree that "V.E.!" is obscure.

They can occur, however, if rarely.

So in 120b4 I made the field bigger and changed the strings to English text.

I strive to keep Cyberia happy. He is my conscience.

If only you were a supermodel...

Thanks for the changes, I am happy.
